      Program Description ↑

The Christiana Care Health System, General Practice Dentistry program, is a one year hospital based residency.  All disciplines of dentistry are practiced including: Periodontics, Endodontics-using rotary intrumentation, Pedodontics as well as fixed and removeable Prosthodontics.  Implant prosthodontics is a prominent part of our curriculum.

Residents rotate through Emergency Medicine, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Anesthesiology.  They consult on medically compromised patients both inpatient and outpatient. They are also assigned to O.R. cases with staff attendings to treat patients that cannot be treated in the normal office setting.

Seminars are given throughout the year to increase the knowledge base beyond dental school and to introduce new techniques and information.  Practice management is also covered on a formal and informal basis.  Residents have the opportunity to network with many of the private practice attendings on our staff.
