      Program Description ↑ 

      The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at the University at Buffalo is a six-year program jointly sponsored by the University and the Erie County Medical Center.

      It is the only oral surgery program in Western New York, and is based on the South Campus (Main Street) of the University. 


      The program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association and has been granted the accreditation status of "approval without reporting requirements." 

      Following satisfactory completion of 72 months of training, a certificate of proficiency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Doctor of Medicine degree are conferred.

        All the following criteria must be met in order to be considered for the program:

        - Applicant must be a CITIZEN or PERMANENT RESIDENT of the UNITED STATES, and provide proof of United States Permanent Residency with PASS application. 
        - Must have completed a minimum of 60 undergraduate credit hours in a United States or Canadian institution. Applicants who do not meet this requirement are not eligible for the program.
