      St. Peter’s Hospital General Practice Dental Residency

      “A dedicated mission of training dental residents to expand their abilities and to treat medically complex and special needs patients”

       

      Features of the GPR

      1. Patient treatment is guided by general dentists and specialists in New York's Capital Region. These wonderful professionals are volunteers who feel a unique desire to give back to their profession and their community
      2. Dedicated operating room time for treating patients with special needs and for treating complex oromaxillofacial reconstructions.
      3. Access to treat more complicated endodontic and prosthodontic cases through St. Peter’s financial assistance program.
      4. Endodontics using ProTaper, Wave One rotary instruments, Sybron Endo Elements Free obturator.
      5. Access to use a diode laser and electrocautery for soft tissue applications.
      6. Local Study Club for CE and complex interdisciplinary treatment planning.
      7. Multi-disciplinary didactic program.
      8. In-office implant placement through partnership with Albany OMFS, Zimmer/Biomet, and BioHorizons.
      9. Exposure to a comprehensive array of both hospital-based and clinical dentistry.

        Interviews are held by appointment during the months of October, November, and December.  Interviews are conducted in-person with the program director and faculty members.  During the interview visit, applicants will have the opportunity to meet current residents and experience a typical work day.
